VISION: Sustainable growth of the Livestock Sector by enhancing livestock and poultry productivity for attaining nutritional security, economic prosperity, employment, generation characterized by low capacity requirement, promoting of local resources, compatible with local lifestyle, users friendly technology, active participation of local people, easy marketability of the product.

MISSION: Ensuring livestock and poultry health, providing veterinary care, improving genetic resources, better management of feed and fodder, and providing improved mechanisms for collection, processing, and management of livestock, poultry, and diary products.

FUNCTION: Animal health and disease control, protection of animals against diseases, and veterinary services. Veterinary health cover is provided through a network of veterinary hospitals dispensaries, and rural animal health centers.

Services available at Hospitals and Dispensaries are: 

1. Examination of animals.
2. Treatment of sick animals.
3. Surgical operations including major and minor surgery.
4. Immunization against contagious and infectious diseases.
5. Artificial insemination of cattle.
6. Post Mortem investigation.
7. Dispensing.
8. Meat inspection.

Services available at Rural Animal Health Centre are: 

1. Treatment of sick animals both large and small.
2. Vaccination against contagious diseases of livestock and poultry.
3. Surgical operations like castration and ovariectomy, minor injury etc.
4. Dispensing.

Service Charges:

There is no service charge at these institutes. However, Rs. 10/- @ Registration fee and Rs. 50/- @ Immunization Certificate are collected except in poultry.
