PM Vishwakarma Yojana

PM Vishwakarma Yojana is a central government scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 17th September 2023 to support and uplift traditional artisans and craftspeople across India. It recognizes the invaluable contribution of “Vishwakarmas” — skilled individuals engaged in family-based traditional trades.
Key Features of PM Vishwakarma Yojana:
- Financial Assistance:
- Toolkit incentive up to ₹15,000
- Collateral-free loan in two tranches:
- – ₹1 lakh in the first tranche
- – ₹2 lakh in the second tranche
- Interest subsidy of 5%
- Skill Development & Training:
- Free basic and advanced skill training
- Daily stipend of ₹500 during training
- Recognition & Certification:
- PM Vishwakarma ID card and certificate
- Marketing and Branding Support:
- Assistance in branding, packaging, and selling products through e-commerce or exhibitions
- Digital Empowerment:
- Support for digital transactions and linking with UPI and e-marketplace
Implementation Mechanism:
- Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)
- Local Implementation: Through District Industries Centres (DICs) and Common Service Centres (CSCs)
- Registration: Done via PM Vishwakarma portal or nearby CSCs
- Verification: Carried out by Gram Panchayat/Municipality and coordinated by DC Office
Role of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office:
- Supervise the scheme’s outreach at the district level
- Facilitate verification and recommendation of eligible applicants
- Coordinate with training institutions, banks, and DICs
- Promote awareness and ensure maximum participation
